"Strengthening Families has been an invaluable  resource to our family! SF has provided solid support, community leads, concrete info, resolution, timely & CONSISTENT communication, in our darkest times. I continue to believe SF was instrumental in helping our family bounce back from various complex circumstances.”

“I first became involved with LINK when my son came into the Douglas County Juvenile Court System in 2011 as a result of school related issues.  My son has special needs and was arrested at the age of 10 for his behaviors while at school.  I was going through a nasty divorce, school problems, dealing with therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, testing etc.  My life was in shambles! Being that I am not from GA and have no family here, I was in need of a good support system. LINK was AMAZING! They went above and beyond to help myself and my family get the services we needed.  After things settled down with my boys, I actually went on to assist LINK in volunteering for a short period of time.  I still make referrals when I meet a parent who is having a hard time with their child’s needs. I feel LINK is a wonderful program to help families within the community find resources.  It’s also great to be able to work with people who have overcome some of these difficulties that life sometimes brings and see there IS a light at the end of the tunnel!

“When I was referred to the Strengthening Family Program we were fairly new to Georgia and my son was going through some major transition and behavioral issues and I didn't know of any resources to get him the help he needed. At the orientation I walked in to a table filled with parents from all different walks of life, all there for different reasons but seeking the same help.. My group meetings allowed me to interact with other parents going through similar situations to my family's, and the opportunity to bond and take something away from each and every meeting. The staff taught us so very much from strategies to deal with our teens to what generational behaviors not to repeat as well as an all around sense that we were not failures as parents we just needed different strategies to deal with our children going through a rough time. I for one was opened up to seeing my son was not a little boy lost but a little boy who had lost his way and with the help and support of that program he is now on the track of being a positive member of the community. I cannot thank them enough for the help they gave our family, the opportunity to work with their caring and helpful staff and the many helpful and informative lessons my son and I took with us upon completion of the program!

“Mentoring has helped with my sons self-esteem and him not having to fit in with others his age and to make better decisions and to control his temper.”

“Drug court saved my life. I have so much support from each and every one of them. They showed me how to live life sober. Today I love my life and have my children back. I live for my sobriety and my children every day. I am forever grateful for drug court.”
